Grave

   Cader Dement's final resting place has never been found. I feel surely there was a family gravesite on his farm. However, he owned 1100 acres and that is alot of ground to cover. New houses, schools, and roads may have destroyed what was left of the family graveyard.

   In court records in 1849, James CRICHLOW was paid for $16 for making his coffin. And Willis BAUCUM was paid $20 for building a wall around his grave. This seems like a lot of money as a cow and calf went for $8 and an ox cart for $16 at his estate sale.

  It was raining "cats and dogs" when Marilyn Holmes and I went to Rutherford Co. TN in September 2009.  Two places that I wanted to visit were the Emory Church near Compton Road in Murfreeboro, TN and the cemetery where James A. TARPLEY was buried. (James Tarpley was Cader's trusted son-in-law.)  The weather prevented us from walking these sites. (However, we did spend much time in the courthouse and uncovered many important documents!)

  I won't rest until I find Cader's resting place!
